Are you looking for some advice and tips to enable you to gain confidence and increase your self-esteem? If you have answered yes to this question then this article may well prove to be of benefit to you, well at least I hope it will be.

In the first two decades of my life I had various issues which had a negative impact on my overall levels of confidence. These included a bald patch on my head, the fact that I am quite short for a male, the fact that I had a stuttering problem and the fact that I was overweight.

I so wanted to become somewhat happier and to be able to walk around with a smile on my face. Life seemed to be a constant struggle for me where as my friends and family seemingly cruised through life. For example my brother was a very successful french doors salesman and my sister offered what she considered to be the best water underfloor heating.

I was somebody who wanted to be liked; I needed to be liked. I was very much constantly worried that people were gossiping about me; this may well sound crazy to you but this was what I was like back then.

I was jealous of other people and their lives and thought that I was rather unlucky; I had been dealt such a poor hand of cards! There were also many a time when I would become quite sorry for myself – I guess you have already realised that.

I could not continue living life like this and when aged 22 I decided to fight back against all of those demons that were making my life a misery.

After working very hard for around a year I successfully managed to overcome my stutter and was also able to attain a weight that I was happy with. I was less successful in my attempt to cure the baldness and to gain in height!

I have also learnt that it does not matter what other people think of me, it is what I think that counts and I actually think that I am a decent person.

I also now realize that I am, without doubt, one of the luckiest people in the world and I now do walk around with a smile on my face.
